Scholarship Program

 The General Assembly Scholarship Program is administered in accordance with the provisions of Section 5/30-9 of the School Code of Illinois. Senator Pankau awards Illinois General Assembly Scholarships to students who have been active in public and civic affairs and who have need of scholarship assistance. The awards are applicable at the following Illinois state universities.

  • Illinois State University
  • Chicago State University
  • Northern Illinois University
  • Western Illinois University
  • Eastern Illinois University
  • Governor State University
  • Southern Illinois University, Carbondale
  • Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville
  • Northeastern Illinois University
  • University of Illinois, Springfield
  • University of Illinois, Chicago
  • University of Illinois, Urbana - Champaign
  • University of Illinois, School of Medicine
  • Southern Illinois University School of Medicine

Both graduate and undergraduate level study are acceptable. However, all scholarships are for tuition only for­ one academic year.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Be a resident in the 23rd Senate District.
  2. Acceptance at the university of one's choice.
  3. Evidence of activity in public and civic affairs.
  4. Relative financial need among applicants.

(NOTE: Applicants are encouraged to research other scholarship opportunities and may do so at www.collegezone.com)

IMPORTANT NOTE: A student may receive a scholarship from Senator Carole Pankau only one time. They will not be eligible for future scholarships from her, in order to provide others with the opportunity. There is no limit on how many times an individual may apply, should they not receive one of the scholarships this year.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Verify that you live in the 23rd Senate District. If you are unsure, visit the State Board of Elections Web site and enter your address.
  • Print the scholarship application from the website.
  • Complete the application form. If necessary use additional pages for activities, employment history, etc. Grade transcripts are necessary.

DEADLINE

Applications must be received in the Senator's office by April 1, 2010.  Notification of scholarship awards will be made in the summer of 2010.
